A food additive inquiry is more than a product name. Technical grade, intended use, regulatory market, documents, packaging and logistics conditions determine whether an offer is truly comparable.

1. Product identity

Share the exact product name, synonym, E number, INS number, CAS number, active ingredient, concentration, carrier system, botanical source or enzyme activity when applicable.

2. Technical grade

Specify food grade, FCC, Ph. Eur., USP, JECFA-aligned, EU-compliant, customer-specific or supplier-specific grade expectations. For blends, include the required composition range.

3. Application and matrix

Indicate the target food category such as beverage, dairy, bakery, confectionery, meat, sauce, snack, powder blend, supplement, plant-based food or frozen product.

4. Functional target

Clarify whether the ingredient is required for pH control, preservation, emulsification, gelling, thickening, colour stability, sweetness, oxidation control, dough performance or fortification.

Technical qualification

Many food additives are sold in multiple technical grades. The same ingredient name can represent different assays, particle sizes, viscosities, strengths, carriers, activities or purity levels.

Assay and purity

For acids, salts, preservatives, antioxidants and sweeteners, include required assay range, moisture limit, ash, heavy metals, residual solvent expectations and compendial reference if required.

Physical form

State whether powder, crystal, granule, beadlet, liquid, paste, flakes, spray-dried powder, oil dispersion, encapsulated form or premix is required for your process.

Particle size and flow

For dry blending, tableting, instant drinks, seasoning and bakery systems, particle size distribution, bulk density, dusting behavior and anticaking system can be critical.

Viscosity and gel strength

For hydrocolloids, gums, pectins, carrageenan, alginates and gelatin, include viscosity method, bloom strength, degree of esterification, gel setting profile and thermal process conditions.

Solubility and dispersion
